Petter Karlsson

In 2019 I was asked to attend the Design Matters Conference in Copenhagen. There I held a presentation about how we at Toca Boca work with creating inclusive design and it is probably one of my most appreciated talks.

In the presentation, I specifically talked about the work we have done with Toca Life World in regard to having diversity and inclusion at the core. I really hope it keeps inspiring more designers, studios, and all kinds of creatives to think about how we together can play a positive part in the world.

Do you want to create an inclusive design? Good choice! Ambition to make the world a better place is always great but finding a language and process for how to start doing the actual work can be much more tricky. In this talk, Petter shares how Toca Boca started to define what they mean with diversity in their products. He also shares some other types of support structures they use in their mission to create apps that feel inclusive to kids all over the world.

The last (and great) talk on the main stage was from Petter, play designer, who shared with us his work on making toys inclusive and accessible for everyone. It was great to see a full talk on Design Accessibility and its importance on the main stage!
